The Panther Paws Dance Team performed at Nationals in Houston, Texas Mar. 12. They placed 3rd in the overall dance competition, losing by .4 points.

“I was pretty disappointed by our scores, because I’m all about winning, but I am pleased with how we did considering we beat teams of about 40 students,” Junior Kara Williams said.

The dance team competed against other medium dance teams from all over the area, scoring 2nd in their division, barely missing 1st place by .2 points.

“We did better in the competition last year, but we only went to State,” Williams said. “This year, we had the opportunity of going to Nationals. Therefore it was harder because there were more teams.”

There were about 15 different dance teams that competed against each other at Nationals that day, some of which required their girls to take five years of dance at a certain dance studio before even trying out.

The team is growing stronger and looking forward to competing again next year, with high hopes of scoring even higher.
