Students in Philanthropy hosts talent show to raise money for charities

Mojo Factor, held Nov 13 and sponsored by Students in Philanthropy, helped raise money for a charity of their choice at the end of the year. The competition raised $535 dollars, Currently, they have raised small amounts of money from other fundraisers they’ve done as well.

“We did the Halloween Fall Festival, and then we did the Hat Day,” Junior Chelsey Squires said. “He (SIP sponsor Brian Richards) hopes to do a golf tournament some time in the spring.”

Senior Savanah Hernandez placed first in the competition with her poetry, “Good & Bad”. Junior Bethani Martinez placed second singing, and Juniors Jordan Solis with C.J. Gomez placed third with their dancing performance.

“It was not as good (of a turnout) as we had hoped,” Squires said. “Mr. Richards said we are going to have to come up with more ideas to improve the turnout for next year.”
