Permian Starts Spring Football

The Permian football team started Spring football on April 24th. The majority of the varsity team is returning players. The varsity has set major goals this year and one of them is to return to the playoffs this Fall season.

Last season the Panthers finished with a 6-4 record and 2-4 record in district play. Struggles in the early part of district play cost Permian a playoff spot this year. This would be the first time they would miss the playoffs in two years.

With some of the sophomores being placed on the varsity team for next season there are some high hopes on them and how much they will make an impact on the team.

“Most of them are nervous but I think they will do good in the long run,” sophomore Jaden Riggs said.

The players on the team feel like Spring football is a good time to get warmed up and ready for the upcoming season.

“I feel like it’s a good time to play because we hadn’t played in since the fall,” junior Ruben San Miguel said.

As of right now the Spring football team is getting ready to showcase their talent with the Black and White game May 18 at Ratliff Stadium.

“I think it would build on a show case of all the hard work we did in the off season,” sophomore Marshall Wiemmer said.
