UIL Academics Compete for First Time

Students do well at Texas Tech ‘Fall Fandango’ academic competition

The UIL Academic Team competed in the Texas Tech Fall Fandango Academic Meet.

For many students, this was their first time actually knowing what the competition was like. It was also the first time for the teams to compete for the year.

Here are the results from the competition:

Matthew Atchley placed 9th in Science for 11h grade,

Andrea Cherry placed 6th in Calculator for 12th grade,

Al Nhi Thi Doan placed 5th in Calculator for 12th grade and 9th in Number Sense for 12th grade,

Hope Harmonson placed 4th in Calculator for 12th grade, 9th in Calculator for overall, 4th in Number Sense for 12th grade and 6th in Mathematics for 12th grade,

Savannah Hernandez placed 3rd in Ready Writing,

Chance Herriage placed 8th in Mathematics for 11th grade,

Ryder Holder placed 10th in Social Studies,

Tiara James placed 7th in News Writing,

Bethani Martinez placed 5th in Calculator for 11th grade,

Ezequiel Paz placed 1st in Science for 12th grade and 5th in Science overall,

Kaylee Paz placed 6th in Calculator for 11th grade and 6th in Number Sense for 11th grade,

Haley Smith placed 8th in Editorial Writing,

And Natalie Steen placed 4th in Calculator for 11th grade, 5th in Number Sense for 11th grade and 9th in Mathematics for 11th grade.

Permian placed 2nd in Science, as a team.

The math and science teams will next compete in the Texas Tech Math and Science “Christmas at Tech” competition Dec 6.
