Lady Panthers Make Playoff Spot

Girls find themselves in Playoffs for first time since 2002.

The Lady Panthers finished their district play Oct. 28. The team ended up clinching a playoff spot which hadn’t been done by a Panther volleyball team since 2002. The Lady Panthers were very excited to get the opportunity to play in the playoffs this year.

“I feel that if we all try and give our 100% on the court we are going to be very successful in playoffs,” Senior Vidalla Sanchez said before the playoff game.

The Lady Panthers won both matches against Odessa High and Midland Lee, tied in matches against Midland High and Abilene High, and suffered losses in both matches against San Angelo Central.

“I feel that we were very successful this season. We as a team came together and worked for every point in every game,” Sanchez said.

In the Lady Panthers playoff game they fought hard and ended up falling short to North Crowley in four sets. The scores for the four sets were 14-25 in the first set, the second set was 23-25 in the second, the 21-25 in the third, and the fourth set was 13-25.

The following members of the Lady Panthers were awarded district 3-6A all district honors:

Newcomer of the Year- Alissa Miramontez

1st Team All-District- Jordan Williams and Carlee Smith

2nd Team All-District- Vidalla Sanchez and Jessica Nguyen

Honorable Mention- Hope Koym and Kaytlynn Lewis

Academic All-District- Alissa Miramontez, Karissa Cortez, Jessica Nguyen, Kayla Cortez, Carlee

Smith, Madison Gerig, Hope Koym and Kaytlynn Lewis.
